Mais informações - vanguardaabolicionista.wordpress.com por Marcio de Almeida Bueno, jornalista Em um domingo de forte calor, a Vanguarda Abolicionista com seus apoiadores, e também ativistas independentes e as siglas Projeto ProAnimal e Ramatis Porto Alegre, passou o dia junto ao estádio Beira-Rio, local do show do ex-beatle Paul McCartney em Porto Alegre. A idéia foi aproveitar a presença do roqueiro vegetariano e ativista pelos direitos animais, e das milhares de pessoas que circulavam pelo entorno do estádio neste 7 de novembro. O grupo realizou maciça panfletagem com material preparado especialmente para a ocasião, com os dizeres 'Escute Paul McCartney -- ele tem muito a dizer contra o consumo de carne e sobre direitos animais'. Não foram poucos os fãs que afirmaram desconhecer a ligação do músico com a causa animal e vegetariana, e como promotor da Segunda Sem Carne. Outro material produzido para o evento foi um banner em tamanho natural de Paul -- autorizado pelo PETA, tratando de sua mudança de vida rumo à defesa dos animais. Dezenas de pessoas posaram ao lado do cartaz para fotografias, e até mesmo uma equipe da RBSTV/Globo gravou reportagem junto ao banner, entrevistando um dos ativistas. A ocasião também permitiu a coleta de assinaturas contra a importação de novas girafas para o Zoológico de Sapucaia do Sul, dentro do movimento 'Lugar de animal é no habitat natural', do qual a Vanguarda Abolicionista faz parte.
